During a thrifting expedition, I picked up a copy of Photoplay Magazine. It’s pretty freaking gossipy and trashy, but, through the lens of 1971, it comes across as kitschy and fascinating. So far, my favorite parts are the advertisements:

…But they didn’t come in a fancy carton like these Eve Cigarettes for Ladies. Dang. (Hey kids, smoking is bad. Go read a book).

Here’s an ad about telling your daughter about the serious truth regarding sanitary products. I’m sure it was just like this for all of us. There’s probably some sort of scary symbolism having to do with the giant white cat the girl’s holding in her lap, but I don’t even want to think about it.

I wish I could go back in time and buy all these wigs for super cheap. I would rock the Reference Desk like no other.
