I just wanted to draw your attention to this simple but powerful website run by the Teacher Action Group of Philadelphia.

It looks like New Yorkers aren’t the only ones having a rough year:

On June 7, 2013, The School District of Philadelphia terminated 3,783 employees. Their presence is essential in our schools. The good news is that the layoffs do not go into effect until July 1 — with restored funding, they could easily keep their jobs. Get to know them here and then take a stand to get these layoffs rescinded!

Included in this lineup of teachers and other educators is Librarian Tina Asman:

“Ms. Asman is a truly indispensable part of our school community! We are lucky to have a library, and it cannot function without a trained librarian to manage it. Ms. Asman also helps our students with projects and research–we are going to be lost without her.”

Want to stand up for Philadelphia educators? Click here. You can also tweet to Councilwoman Cindy Bass and let her know that you oppose the layoffs.

Stay strong, Philly!
